Generic Claritin(Generic name: Loratadine)
Claritin Drug Info
Claritin Drug Uses: Claritin is used for the relief of nasal and non-nasal symptoms of various allergic conditions such as seasonal allergic rhinitis. Claritin is also used to treat patients with chronic urticaria, a type of allergic skin rash.
How to Use Claritin: Claritin is generally prescribed once daily. Patients with liver diseases or with reduced kidney function need lower doses than patients with normal liver and kidney function. The usual dose of loratadine is 10 mg daily for adults and children older than six.
Claritin Precautions: There are no adequate studies of loratadine in pregnant women. However, studies in animals suggest no important effects on the fetus. Loratadine therefore can be used in pregnancy if the physician feels that it is necessary. Claritin is secreted in breast milk. Although no side effects have been described in nursing infants whose mothers have taken loratadine, this medication should be used with caution in nursing mothers.
Claritin Drug Interactions: There are no known clinically important drug interactions with Claritin.
Claritin Possible Side Effects: In studies in which loratadine was compared to a placebo (an inactive tablet which was made to look like loratadine), the rates of side effects with loratadine was no greater than that of the placebo. The most common complaints were headache, tiredness, and dry mouth.
Claritin Overdose: Seek emergency medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of Claritin overdose include: headache, tiredness, and dry mouth.
Claritin Storage: Store Claritin at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Avoid excessive heat. Avoid freezing. Keep out of the reach of children. Dispense of this medicine in a tight, light-resistant container. Do not store Claritin in the bathroom.
Claritin Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
